The first two weeks here in France haven't really been easy. I wonder how much harder it would of been if Sophie's rent's hadn't come for holiday at the same time. I seem to find myself in certain hard situations and I think to myself "I never thought I would find this difficult." So my last "difficult situation" was getting our car washed; it so happens that in France you are not in the car while it gets washed. I wonder what the look on my face must of been when I saw the car wash start up with-out any car inside it.
I have also found that is a Lyon accent but I can't for the life of me work out whether it is just how the French don't speak what one is taught at school or a local accent. An example is the number 4, quatre. I have always said it with an the "r" included (but not last e). So might sound like cat-rrrr. Whereas while I was ordering pizza this evening the woman said if it was deux or cat. Now she obviously didn't mean do I want a feline pizza.
This then got me thinking about whether I want a regional French accent? Have you ever heard anything quite as strange as a non-native speaker of English have a regional accent? Imagine my horror when I thought I might be learning the equivalent of a brummy accent?
Anyway I have a flat which is completely empty. I will post some photos asap.
I haven't got a phone yet but I do have skype, just search for mearing-smith and you will find me. I fear there are two of me, just add both.
